Unsilence is seeking an Executive Director to develop and lead long-term organizational strategy, partnerships, and growth. This is a new, full-time position that will report to the Board of Directors and work closely with the Founder.
Unsilence breaks taboos and lifts voices to illuminate stories of human rights and ignite action against injustice. We create empowering learning experiences for youth and the public, and teach educators and community leaders, to spark dialogue, support critical thinking, and build empathy to inspire healing and social change. Unsilence is a recently established, Chicago-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built on five years of visioning, framework development, and piloting of highly innovative educational youth programs and educator trainings. Guided by experienced human rights educators and designers, Unsilence employs cutting-edge design, innovation, and a framework founded on pedagogical research and theories of learning.
Through pilot programming, Unsilence has reached over 5,000 people directly, including over 1,100 educators across ten states. We have developed relationships with approximately 45 community partners and we are gaining prominence and name-recognition within the human rights and anti-genocide education communities across the United States and abroad. Through our original, free, and accessible virtual content, Unsilence is drastically changing how we talk about taboo and marginalized issues of human rights, atrocity, and social justice.
Unsilence is poised for dramatic growth in both structure and scope of impact. We are searching for an experienced and passionate leader who feels inspired by our mission and is ready to help shape and steer Unsilence toward our potential as a national and global voice for innovative human rights education.
